Day 11: Viveiro to Restrebas

We woke up to the most stunning views at Casa Do Batan – definitely the most special place we’ve stayed so far and easily worth the two extra mountains we had to climb to get there…

Anton and Luz went above and beyond welcoming us to their enchanting home, which has been in Luz’s family for 200 years and lovingly restored in recently into an otherworldly sanctuary – the absolute perfect place for us to recuperate our tired bodies!

Fuelled by their amazing food – and especially the incredible gluten free Bica (a typical cake from the region which tastes like gooey sticky toffee pudding)which I have a feeling they made specially for me this morning…6241762000_IMG_2550

I certainly plan to come back here!!

We set off with our stomach’s bulging but our Spirits high 😊IMG_7732

which was fortunate as today’s route was pretty much relentlessly uphill…

But also the most Stunning views we’ve had – almost like Shropshire on steroids! There was one long stretch of 10% incline which proved entertaining, but the Spice Girls came to the rescue through my mini speakers 😉

It was actually baking hot and we were lucky to find a Bar enroute to refil our waters – Alice stuffed her face on Nutella whilst restricting Mummy and I to cabbage soup – as apparently we’re ruining her bikini photos!

We are now in the National Park and loving the peace and quiet! Hopefully tomorrow is as down hill as Alice has promised – Apparently “It’s all down hill to Santiago de Compostela 😉
